Oreck air purifiers have recently been introduced by Oreck Corporation.  The Company began as a manufacturer of upright vacuum cleaners for the hotel industry in the U.S. Oreck set themselves apart from other manufacturers by designing a lightweight yet powerful and durable vacuum cleaner. Initially, hotel housekeepers preferred the Oreck model to the very heavy vacuum cleaners previously provided to them. The lightweight vacuum cleaner was so successful that now over 50,000 hotels throughout the world use Oreck vacuum cleaners. Soon the hotel personnel requested the opportunity to purchase an Oreck vacuum cleaner  for their own personal use. The acceptance of the product by the hotel personnel for personal usage gave Oreck the idea to market its unique product directly to the general public.

Oreck air purifiers are mostly stand alone products that do not need any installation.  The products are designed to remove the causes of indoor air pollution and to leave clean, crisp, breathable air in the house or room. The Company claims that allergens, bacteria, mold, viruses and fungi are captured by the Oreck air purifier and destroyed. The Company also claims that unpleasant household odors will be eliminated. In addition the Oreck air purifier will improve the quality of the air in the room or house and leave it dust free too! 

Oreck markets their air purifiers mostly with TV infomercials.  The infomercial is quite impressive and the featured Oreck air purifier product was presented as being an extremely efficient air purifier.  However, most consumer reach organizations that rate rate air purifiers do not rate Oreck very high.  Many even call the Oreck air purifier ineffective.  Much too small for the task it is attempting to complete. In addition the are many reviews stating the Company has some serious problems with their customer service operation.

Overall, the findings are that it appears the Oreck air purifiers simply do not perform as well as the television infomercials would lead you to believe. In several tests performed by third party organizations their findings were that the Oreck air purifiers do not make the air cleaner at all.
