Whirlpool air purifiers supply only the portable air purifier market niche.  However, their brand name is so strong that even in this smaller niche Whirlpool is very competitive. However, since there are many smaller manufacturers of air purifiers that focus their attention on this niche, Whirlpool could get a larger market share with more focus.
