Electronic air purifier and mechanical air filter air purifier both remove air particle pollutants from the air. An electronic air purifier uses an electrostatic  attraction process to capture charged air particles.  The electronic air purifier forces the air through an ionization chamber which will cause the air particles to become electrically charged.  The charged particles are then collected on a series of flat plates that have been charged with an opposite charge.  In an electronic air purifier t he pollutant air particles will be charged with a positive charge and the collector plate will receive a negative charge.  Thus the positive charged air particles will be attracted to the negative charged collector plate and removed from the air flowing over the collector plates.

There are many manufacturers that market electronic air purifiers.  Likewise, many manufacturers market mechanical or filter air purifiers.  Depending upon the personal air quality issues that exist, either or both may work for any particular situation. Both type of air purifiers cleanse the air each in its own manner.  If the air pollutants causing the problem are large, the mechanical filter will do a good job.  If the particular type of air pollutants that you are trying to rid the air of are small. possibly the electronic air purifier may work more effectively.

While commonly found indoor air pollutants can be the cause for many harmful effects on the human body, there is much uncertainty about the level of concentration and time of exposure necessary to cause specific type of health problems. Different people react very differently to exposure to indoor air pollutants. Take smoking as an example.  Everyone who smokes does not get lung cancer.  Some people have smoked for a long period of time - more than fifty years - with out any visible signs of lung cancer. Much more research is required to determine exactly  which health effects occur after exposure to the different levels of air pollutant found in homes.
